PURPOSE:To enable automatic taking of a proper counter-measure, by effectively unilizing sound detection pulse train signals when any abnormality is detected in detection pulse train signals obtained from a plurality of detectors. CONSTITUTION:At a detection signal generating section, detectors 20A-20C which generate detection pulse train signals Pa-Pc corresponding to the array of a part to be detected formed on a rotary disc 14 are so arranged that there will be a phase difference of 2pi/3 in substance between first and second detection pulse train signals obtained from adjacent two thereof to make detection pulses forming first and second detection pulse train signals overlap each other. An output selector section of an output transmitter section 30 transmits a rotation detection output to be formed by a detection output forming section of the transmitter section 30 when no abnormality is detected in the detection pulse train signals Pa-Pc with an abnormality detector section 40 while it transmits sound signal among the signals Pa-Pc or a signal obtained on its basis as the detection output when any abnormality is detected in the signals Pa-Pc.
