PURPOSE:To permit a gas spring to stop at a midway position, by closing an opening at one side of a passage by engaging a slider slidably disposed at a piston rod with an engaging member provided at a midway position of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A piston rod 4 includes a passage 10 communicating chambers A, B. A slider 11 which is biased by a spring 14 is slidably disposed at the vicinity of an opening 10B at one side of a passage 10 so as to close the opening 10B. An engaging member 15 is disposed in a cylinder 1. When a piston rod 4 is moved, the slider 11 engages with an engaging member 15 for closing the opening 10B so that a piston rod 4 is held at a midway position of a cylinder stroke. When the piston rod 4 is moved by further larger force, the opening 10B is opened by the movement of the slider and the piston rod 4 is moved to a stroke end. |
