PURPOSE:To connect various display monitors by the same control device by providing a means for discriminating a display function and a means for editing and sending out a display data, and switching the display data by discriminating the display monitor. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with a display function, a discriminating signal line 19 is set in advance to '1' or '0'. When a power source is turned on, a discriminating part 13 reads a discriminating signal, informs a classification of a display monitor to a main control part 16, and also makes a switching part 14 execute switching of a color and a monochrome. The main control part 16 starts the editing part 11a of lln concerned by a classification of a vertical or horizontal type, and the editing part edits and reads repeatedly the contents of a picture memory 10 by a prescribed format, converts a character code to a pattern data and sends it out together with color information to a signal generating part 5. The generating part 5 converts the pattern data to a RGB video signal and sends it out to the switching part 14, and adding part 6 adds the RGB signal and sends it out to the switching part 14. The switching part 14 is switched already, and a prescribed display data is sent out through a monitor interface 15.
