A device (which may be referred to as a cricket counter) is disclosed for assisting with counting tasks associated with a cricket match. The device is sized to be held and operated by hand. The device has a screen which is such that whatever is displayed on the screen can be made out by a user, even when the screen is in use in direct sunlight. The device has recording means operable by the user during the match to record at least the following events which are counted and stored on the device: when a ball is bowled; when a run is scored; and when a wicket is taken. The device is operable in normal play during a current innings of the match to display on the screen: the number of balls bowled in the current over; the number of wickets that have fallen in the current innings; and the number of runs scored in the current innings. |
