PURPOSE:To form easily and quickly a coating layer consisting of an amorphous metal by providing the amorphous metallic powder in a laminar state on the surface of a member to be subjected to coating and exerting impact pressure thereto to fix the powder to the member surface. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous metallic powder 2 is provided in the laminar state on the member (base plate) 1 to be subjected to the coating and the member is sandwiched by resin plates 3, 4. Such member is imposed on a fixing base 5. A plate material 6 for compression is disposed onto the base plate 1 and gunpowder 7 is set onto the material 6. The film formation of the powder layer and the fixing of said layer onto the base plate surface are executed by the impact pressure generated by the explosion of the gunpowder 7. The coating layer 8 having an optional thickness is thus formed to a uniform thickness on the surface of large base plate 1.
