PURPOSE:To cut the bristles of a developer by projecting at least one part of the outer peripheral surface of a developer conveying member outwards from other parts of the outer peripheral surface and stopping the developer conveying member where the projection part faces a developing roller. CONSTITUTION:The gap between the tip of a blade 7 and a developing sleeve 7 is set smaller than the gap between a developer thickness control member 11 and the developing sleeve 8. When the conveying member 5 stops in this state, the thickness of a developer moving on the developing sleeve 8 becomes smaller than developer thickness controlled by the developer thickness control member 11. In general, the developer thickness controlled by the member 11 is so set that a developer a photosensitive body 10 when bristles are erected, so a developer controlled to thickness smaller than the developer thickness by the long blade 7 of the conveying member 5 does not contact the photosensitive body even when carried to the position where it faces the photosensitive body, so that the developer is prevented from moving to the photosensitive body. Consequently, the bristles of the developer is cut securely. |
