PURPOSE:To improve the traveling property and durability of the titled medium by providing a magnetic layer on one surface of a carrier and furnishing a layer contg. a specified silicon compd. on the other surface. CONSTITUTION:A silicon comps. expressed by the formula is incorporated into a back-coat layer on the surface of a nonmagnetic carrier opposite to the surface on which a magnetic layer is formed. Since the compd. shown by the formula has a fatty acid group, the compatibility with a binder component is excellent and the chemical stability can be maintained even under severe conditions of high temp. and humidity, because the compd. contains a hydrofluoric group. Besides, R3 is the residue of a fatty acid expressed by -OCOR1 and the residue of a saturated farry acid such as caprylic, capric and behenic acid and the residue of an unsaturated fatty acid such as zoomaric and gadoleic acid are exemplified. About 0.5-4.5wt% silicon compd. shown by the formula is incorporated into the binder constituting the back-coat layer and the thickness of the back-coat layer is regulated to about 0.3-4mum. Consequently, the traveling property and durability is improved. |
