摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the titled medium having excellent resistance to corrosion and wear by providing a magnetic recording layer of a ferromagnetic thin film on a nonmagnetic substrate and further furnishing a layer of the oxide film of an alloy of one element between Rh and Co. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic substrate 1 is made of a plastic film such as polyethylene terephthalate or Al or glass having 5-100mum thickness. A magnetic recording layer 2 is formed in 0.05-1.0mum thickness by the vacuum deposition of metals such as Fe, Co and Ni or the alloy contg. the elements. A protective film layer 3 consists of the oxide of an alloy of at least one between Rh and Pd and Co and the thickness is regulated to 50-500Angstrom . The effect as the protective and lubricating layer is not exhibited at <50Angstrom and the clearance between a head and the magnetic recording layer 2 is increased and the recording and reproduction efficiency is decreased at >500Angstrom . The content of Rh or Pd in the alloy of Co and Rh and Pd is preferably adjusted to 30at%. The corrosion resistance is not sufficiently improved when the Co content is high and the effect in reducing the friction coefficient is small when the Co content is low.
