PURPOSE:To provide a color printer excellent in color reproduction properties or the like, capable of being reduced in size, having high calmness and reliability and simple in construction, by a system wherein a photo-switching element is provided between a UV light source and a fluorescent body, the fluorescent body is irradiated selectively with UV rays to effect fluorescence, and a photosensitive recording paper is exposed to the fluorescent light, thereby forming an image. CONSTITUTION:UV rays emitted by a fluorescent tube 10 through fluorescence are focused through a reflector 11 and a focusing lens 12, and a shutter array 14 is irradiated with the focused UV rays. A thin film shutter 23 is disposed between a positive electrode 26 and a negative electrode 27. When a wiring pattern 22 is provided with a negative potential, it is attracted to the positive electrode side by electrostatic forces acting between the positive and negative electrodes and the shutter 23. When the pattern 22 is provided with a positive potential, it is attracted to the negative electrode side, and is displaced so as to make close contact with a lower substrate. In this case, the UV rays emitted from the fluorescent tube 10 propagate through a spacer 24, and are transmitted through the shutter part to be incident on a light-emitting plate. Three shutter arrays are individually controlled, whereby red, blue and green light emitting fluorescent bodies are made to emit light, and an instant photographic printing paper being fed in the state of being opposed to the fluorescent bodies is exposed imagewise to the red, blue and green lights.
