PURPOSE:To constitute the titled device so that a picture is not disturbed in a space part at the time of reproduction, by constituting it so that the space part (non-picture recording part) can be inserted between picture recording and picture recording. CONSTITUTION:When a non-picture recording part insertion button 13c is depressed in the course of picture recording, a switching circuit 14 inputs fixed pattern signal FPS from a fixed pattern signal generator 12, to a recording system 15, instead of a video signal VDS. As a result, thereafter, a fixed pattern by which the whole picture goes to black is recorded in a magnetic tape MT, and a non-picture recording part is inserted. In such a state, when a pause button 13b or a picture recording/reproducing button 13a is depressed, the insertion of the non-picture recording part is released, and thereafter, the switching circuit 14 inputs a video signal VDS from an image generator 11, to the recording system 15 and records it in the magnetic tape.
