PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic medium which has a uniform film thickness and can execute recording with a high density, by providing many magnets whose magnetic poles are placed alternately, on the side opposed to an applying surface, and making a magnetic force from said magnets work on an applying liquid, when forming a recording medium by applying a magnetic recording liquid onto a nonmagnetic base and drying it. CONSTITUTION:When a nonmagnetic base 3 for constituting a recording medium is moved in one direction and a magnetic recording liquid which has dispersed a magnetic powder in a solvent is applied onto said base, and it is dried and the recording medium is formed, it is executed as mentioned below. That is, a nonmagnetic substrate 7 of Al, etc. is provided at an interval on the side opposed to the applying surface of the base 3, a ferromagnetic plate 9 whose width is wider than a width of the base 3 is embedded in the base 3 side by using a line groove 8, respectively, and this upper end is made to abut on the reverse side of the base 3. Also, between the magnetic plates 9, a magnet 10 whose magnetic poles are different from each other, respectively is packed, a magnetic force from this magnet is made to work on an applying liquid and it is defoamed by a stirring action, and thereafter, it is flattened by using a roller and subsequently, it is dried.
