PURPOSE:To compensate the distortion of an image due to skew of a recording paper accurately with a simple constitution without requiring mechanical driven parts by shifting the image forming position on a recording head in the direction of dot lines in accordance with the positional deviation between the recording head and an image receiving member viewed in the direction of dot lines. CONSTITUTION:A controller 45 is provided with a counter to count the number of dot lines, and a programmable counter is provided and its initial value is set in accordance with a maximum distortion extent DELTAd of the image. Each time the dot line counter counts 100 dot lines, one is subtracted from contents of the programmable counter. Contents of the programmable counter are supplied to a deskew circuit 43, and the timing is controlled when a dot picture signal supplied from a character generator 42 is written in a buffer memory consisting of a random access memory provided in the deskew circuit 43. If the image on a recording paper 17 is deviated right, the write timing of the dot picture signal is shifted left by an extent corresponding to one dot at intervals of 100 dot lines. |
