PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of a roll and the efficiency of roll changing by installing a cooling water guide curved along the roll surface and cooling pad having a feed and discharge header for cooling water into the construction by which said guide and pad can be freely advanced, retreated, attached and detached. CONSTITUTION:The position of the cooling water guide plate 20 with respect to the work roll can be easily adjusted by adjusting a bolt 26. A reference beam and the cooling pad are connected by a freely expandable and contractable joint to permit the smooth water feed and discharge. Water feed and discharge blocks 48, 102 connected with water feed pipes 118, 120 and water discharge pipes 122, 124 are advanced and retreated integrally with the upper guide plate 70, etc. to connect and disconnect the cooling pads 18, 116 and the blocks 48, 102 by which the easy roll changing operation is made possible. The cooling effect of the roll as well as the efficiency of roll changing are thus improved. |
