PURPOSE:To efficiently remove a phosphorus compd. and COD component incorporated in drainage by using a water treating agent which is obtained by heating a substance having calcium silicate hydrate wherein the molar ratio of CaO/SiO2 is present in the specified range as an essential component at the specified temp. CONSTITUTION:A substance contg. >=50wt% preferably >=70wt% calcium silicate hydrate where in the molar ratio of CaO/SiO2 is present in the range of 1.5-5 preferably 2-4 in heated at 500-700 deg.C. Thereby a water treating agent constituted of an amorphous substance is obtained. This water treating agent has excellent removal performance of a phosphorus compd. such as orthophosphoric acid and COD component which are incorporated in the drainage difficult in the removal in an activated carbon adsorption process and an activated sludge process. Furthermore since the settling properties and the dehydrating properties of the produced sludge are excellent and the amount thereof is little, the high- efficiency drainage treatment is enabled. The hydrate wherein one part of SiO2 is substituted with Al2O3 and/or Fe2O3 has the similar performance.
