<p>PURPOSE:To produce an internal-combustion engine having excellent volume efficiency while maintaining the insulating effect by covering the wall face of combustion chamber with such insulating member as produced by sintering fine hollow balls with heat-resistant metal. CONSTITUTION:A galvanized layer 5 of heat-resistant metal such as nickel is provided around a hollow ball 2 which is placed in a mold of specific shape upto specific thickness and heated under high temperature. Consequently, said layer 5 will dissolve to sinter the hollow balls 2 each other to produce a sintered metal layer 3. Then a tight coating layer 4 is provided on the surface of said insulating member 1, which is jointed through a jointing material layer 7 onto the top face of a piston 6. Consequently, the insulating member 1 is provided with excellent insulation performance because of the hollow balls 2 and low heating storage capacity because of thin sintered metal layer 3. Since the heat transmission from the insulating member 1 to the intake air is low, the cycle efficiency and the volume efficiency can be improved.</p> |
