PURPOSE:To make easy the preparation of NC information for machining a metal mold by using the computer edit design for making the final machining pattern data of the mold and using each device for memorizing the machining process and for the edit of machining sequences and the preparation of the control information thereof. CONSTITUTION:A metal mold plate 21 is designed by using a computer edit design device 1 and the pattern data of the plate 21 so designed is memorized. When bores 22-25 for a guide post is indicated in that pattern data 2, selection is made from the bore processing data 3 of standardized boring conditions as memorized in advance to decide automatically the center drill, the lower bore drill, the cutting tool diameter, the machining conditions and the like, all necessary for machining, and to make machining process information 4 for guide boss boring. And the machining process information 4 is made for all bores of the metal mold plate 21 in the pattern data 2, thereby preparing a program for boring procedures. That is, the process wherein the same tool is used, is programmed for the work of the same group by an edit function 5.
