PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition capable of forming a magnetic recording medium having high durability, and containing a magnetic pigment treated its surface with a compound having radiation-polymerizable unsaturated bond, an organic resin such as vinyl chloride copolymer resin and a zirconium- based metal coordination compound. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a magnetic paint is treated with (A) a compound having a radiation-polymerizable unsaturated bond in the molecule (e.g. urethane acrylic oligomer), (B) one or more organic resins selected from vinyl chloride copolymer resin, a cellulosic resin, a polyvinyl butyral resin, a polyester resin, a polyurethane resin and an epoxy resin and (C) a zirconium-based metal coordination compound, and the treated magnetic paint is used as a component of the objective composition. The amount of the treating agent is e.g. 0.1-20wt% based on the magnetic pigment.
