PURPOSE:To allow the device of a simple structure to be employed so as to be easily operated by configurating the device in such a way that a paper feed cassette which contains reserved copy paper, is removably installed underneath an intermediate stacker, a sensor is allowed to detect that copy paper in a paper feed stacker has been exhausted, and then the reserved copy paper in the paper feed cassette is fed. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate stacker 65 which comprises No.1 stacker, is provided in the center of a paper feed opening 17 together with a paper feed stacker 7 dividing the paper feed opening 17 into two: the upper and lower sections. The stacker 65 includes an opening section 67 which can be closed, at a position facing to a pick-up roller 57. A swing plate 95 which is swung up and down, is provided in a paper feed cassette 91. The cassette 91, in which reserved copy paper is contained, is loaded to a lower paper feed opening, this causes the opening section of the stacker 65 to be opened allowing the reserved copy paper to be detected with a sensor 94 activated. Accordingly, after it is verified by a sensor 64 that no copy paper is left in the stacker 7, the roller 57 comes in contact with the copy paper on the swing plate 95 allowing it to be fed.
