PURPOSE:To improve the long term stocking performance of cell by forming the separator/electrolyte holding member to be employed in alkaline battery with woven or nonwoven fabric of super water absorbing fiber impregnated with alkali electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A separator 6' impregnated with electrolyte and a negative electrode container 3 filled with negative electrode black mix 4 are assembled onto positive electrode black mix 2 filled in positive electrode container 1 then enclosed through a gasket 7 to form alkaline battery. Here, the separator 6' is formed by immersing woven or nonwoven fabric composed of super water absorption fiber such as LANSEAL-F with alkali electrolyte to gelatinize and to also serve as an electrolyte holding member. Consequently, the long term stocking performance and the anti-leakage performance can be improved while the electrolyte holding member is eliminated to increase the quantities of the positive and negative electrode black mix thus to improve the cell capacity. |
