A device and a method for applying outsoles to original flexible shoes are described, a last with drawn-on upper leather and sewn-on insole first being moved into a soling work station and there provided with the outsole by means of a bottom ram. Before the soling operation, the last is tensioned over the upper leather edge, as a result of which the shoe shaft drawn onto the last is tensioned and the outwardly projecting circumferential flexible edge is aligned exactly in relation to the inner contour of a shaping frame provided for the sole. Subsequently, the upper leather edge is pressed against the insole via a surround of the bottom ram designed as a pouring mould, after which the outsole is formed directly onto the insole. Using this method and this device, it is possible to manufacture original flexible shoes more economically and more rapidly.
