PURPOSE:To enable quantitative or limited detection of displacement of a specimen, by allowing a specimen magnet to move in translation or revolution relative to a thin-film resistance element. CONSTITUTION:When a specimen magnet moves in the y-direction, an output voltage V0 processes the highest value in the setting point G' of the specimen magnet a distance (d) apart from the origin G in the x-direction and follows a curve Y which becomes smaller with its increasing distance from the point G'. And, the output voltage V0 becomes zero, when a line connecting the specimen magnet and G includes 45 deg. with the x-direction i.e. when position in the y-direction of the magnet equals to 'd'. Further, when the magnet is shifted to the negative direction from the origin point G, the output voltage V takes a negative value also. Thus, linear movement of the specimen magnet, the output voltage V increases or decreases gradually correspondingly and a quantitative detection of the linear displacement of the specimen magnet becomes available.
