PURPOSE:To prevent confusion to improve the data maintainability and to prevent the increase of the volume and improve the retrieval efficiency by dividing a data base into a shared part and a personal part. CONSTITUTION:When reference is requested from a request source 6 by a key operation, a signal including a reference key is sent to a shared dictionary 2 and a personal dictionary 4 from a reference input/output part 51a, and results of retrieval of dictionaries 2 and 4 are stored temporarily in a buffer 52, and they are outputted to the request source 6 from the input/output part 51a in the order of arrival. In case of update and addition of contents of dictionaries 2 and 4, a type designating either of dictionaries and a record indicating recorded contents are inputted following the key and are inputted to a switching part 53 from an update input/output part 51b to perform switching for dictionaries, and contents of the designated dictionary are updated or data is added to this dictionary.
