PURPOSE:To effectively feed out without applying a complicated operation by driving and connecting a reading member and a paper guide so as to place the paper guide at a contact position under pressure when the reading member is positioned at a reading position, and place the paper guide at a guide position when the reading member is positioned at a stand-by position. CONSTITUTION:On mounting a paper, a motor 19 is initially reversed, rotating bodies 17a, 17b are rotated counterclockwise through a reduction gear system, a connecting rod 21 is mover rearward, and a reading member 11 is rotated counterclockwise and positioned at a stand-by position. At the same time, a sensitivity level check member 14 is rotated clockwise and a paper guide 16 is positioned at a guide position by a lifter 16b abutting on a lower step surface 14b of a cam 14f. During reading the image, the motor 19 is rotated normally, the rotating body 17b is rotated clockwise, the connecting rod 21 is moved forward by an energizing force of a coil spring 22 and the reading member 11 is rotated until abutting on a regulating member 30 and positioned at the reading position. At the same time, the member 14 is rotated counterclockwise and the paper guide 16 is situated at a contact position under pressure by the lifter 16b abutting on an upper step surface 14c of the cam 14f.
