The invention relates to a speed-adjusting system. According to the invention, it comprises a voice recognition and synthesis means 30, for recognising a vocal instruction by an operator of the vehicle and for producing a set speed signal representing a desired speed of the vehicle by a microcomputer 32 and an adjustment means 14 responding to the set speed signal so as to keep the speed of the vehicle at the desired value.
