PURPOSE:To obtain a rotating magnetic field with high uniformity and small VI product and to attain low power consumption by providing a solenoid coil applying a DC magnetic field in parallel with the surface of a magnetic bubble memory element in the vicinity of a good conductor case. CONSTITUTION:A coil assembly 4 is inserted into a case RFS assembly in which a board assembly BND and a magnetic current PFC are contained, the case is pressed vertically to arrange a solenoid coil SOC and upper and lower magnets BIMa and BIMb are arranged by bonding on the upper and lower faces. In applying a DC current to the SOC synchronously with a rotating mag netic field generating current, the rotating magnetic field and a DC magnetic field are applied superimposingly on the surface of a chip CHI. Since the DC magnetic field is confined in the RFS and generated as a reverse magnetic field inversed to the holding magnetic field and in parallel with the surface of the chip CHI, when the reverse magnetic field is increased by increasing gradually the DC current, the operating margin of the holding magnetic field in the operating region is measured and the propriety of the holding magnetic field is discriminated easily.
