The present invention relates to a pole consisting of a tubular element provided with a rack in order to define a series of positions for stopping one or more sliding sleeve. The tubular element 1 comprises, on its external face, a longitudinal guiding groove 2, defined by a recessed profile of the wall of the element. This groove has a flat bottom 3. A series of rectangular orifices 6 are cut in the bottom 3 of the groove in order to form a rack. Such a tubular element can be used as a pole for carrying a clothes line and/or a parasol, in various positions along the rack. <IMAGE>
