PURPOSE:To attain a simple and compact structure as a whole for a sound recording/reproducing device by pulling a cord to wind up a constant torque spring connected to a take-up reel. CONSTITUTION:When the sound signals are recorded on a magnetic tape 5, a cord 7 is pulled with no push of a recording/reproduction changeover button 28. Thus a supply reel 3 is revolved clockwise to rewind the tape 5 wound round a take-up reel 4. Then a constant torque spring 10 fixed to the reel 4 at an end is drawn out of a winding drum 13 and wound up. In this rewinding state of the tape 5, a traveling contact 30a of a power supply switch 30 is separated from a fixed contact 30b and pulled upward since the tension is applied to the cord 7. Thus the switch 30 is turned off to cut off the power supplied to a recording/reproducing circuit. Then the recording/reproducing actions of the tape 5 is stopped even in case a magnetic head 21 touches the tape 5. This avoids a case where the undesired noise is delivered through a speaker 33.
