PURPOSE:To obtain foam for suppressing the melting of snow, capable of contacting closely to the surface of fallen snow, having improved effect to suppress the melting of snow and resistant to the scattering with wind and the flow out by rain, by adding saponin and an animal protein to an aqueous solution composed mainly of gelatin, and stirring or spraying the mixture. CONSTITUTION:For example, 20-80g of gelatin and 10-40g of sugar are added to 500cc of water and heated to 40-60 deg.C to obtain a homogeneous aqueous solution. The solution is added with 500cc of water and 5-10g of saponin, stirred until the mixture is foamed completely and applied without delay to the surface of fallen snow uniformly to a thickness of about 3cm. Hydrolyzed animal protein solution can be used as a substitute for saponin.
