PURPOSE:To contrive to eliminate damage to a magnetic disk and to improve service life and reliability of a magnetic head and the magnetic disk by rounding off the respective ridges coming into contact with the magnetic head and the magnetic disk by using elastic material such an foamed polyurethane or the like. CONSTITUTION:Sticking foamed polyurethane 8 to a board 9 for sticking the foamed polyurethane and by applying pressure 10 after placing on a magnetic head 6, the foamed polyurethane 8 deforms elastically, and the head 6 bits into a polyurethane 8. Adding hyperfine polishing material 11, and rotating the foamed polyurethane 8 and polishing material 11 is embedded in the part where the magnetic head 6 has bitten into the foamed polyurethane 8 to lap the magnetic head 6. Stress is concentrated to a ridge 12 and lapped quickly, gradually forming roundness, the external ridges 1, 4 and internal ridges 2, 3, ridge 15 near the gaps and ridge 4 forming the boundary between the tapered and flat faces are rounded.
