An inlet for wire windings into a coil formation chamber is to be configured in such a way that wire windings fed in at different speeds can be deposited reliably on the receiving mandrel in the coil formation chamber. For this purpose, it is proposed that the rollers in the inlet region of the coil formation chamber be displaced at an angle of between 0 DEG and 90 DEG to the feed direction of the wire windings.
