PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately and certainly rotate an article to be painted at an arbitrary position and time, by providing a rotary apparatus, which moves simultaneously with a conveyor and reciprocates within a predetermined moving range, in a painting conveyor line. CONSTITUTION:The slide frame provided to a rotary apparatus moves along with a conveyor when a follower pin 6 as an engaging means is engaged with the conveyor. In this state, an air high rotor 12 as a rotary means is acted on the rotatable hanger 2 provided to the conveyor to rotate the hanger 2 by a predetermined amount and the direction of an article to be painted is altered. After the finish of alteration, because a press wheel 13 is retracted and a follower wheel 8 is released, a motive power wheel 9 reversely races to prepare for the next rotation. The above mentioned operation is repeated necessary times and, when painting is completed, the follower pin 6 is retracted and the rotary apparatus is released from the conveyor and returned to the original position by a return cylinder 5.
