PURPOSE:To prevent a color reverse phenomenon resulting from an unsatisfactory recording level of an FM color difference signal by providing a first frequency characteristic adjusting means for adjusting the frequency characteristic of an FM brightness signal and a second frequency characteristic adjusting means for adjusting the frequency characteristic of an FM color difference signal. CONSTITUTION:An FM brightness signal Yo outputted from an FM modulator 5 is supplied to a recording amplifier 8 through a high pass filter 18. The recording amplifier 8 amplifies the FM brightness signal Yo to a predetermined level, namely to have a recording current of 30mA and at this time, enhances a high band by an operation of a frequency characteristic adjusting circuit 21 to compensate a recording demagnetization phenomenon. The FM brightness signal Yo a amplified and compesated by the recording amplifier 8 is supplied to a video head 17 through a mixing circuit 7 and a switch 16. An FM color difference signals Ro-Yo, Bo-Yo outputted from an FM modulator 14 are supplied to a recording amplifier 30 through a low pass filter 19. Herein, they are amplified to a predetermined level, namely to have the recording current of 30mA and an adjustment of the frequency characteristic is performed so as to compensate a limit of an ability of a video head in the low frequency.
