PURPOSE:To enable the proper mounting of a workpiece on a spindle chuck in a device to carry the workpiece into a machining area, by making it impossible to interrupt the pushing function of a pusher even if a slider when working has come to contact an obstacle. CONSTITUTION:When a rotor 12 moves counterclockwise, a slider 5 moves down and causes a workpiece held by a retainer 15 thereof to be shifted to the position of the axis of rotation for a spindle. When the slider 5 has come to be in contact with a stopper 22 and stood still, the rotor 12 moves off cams 13a and 13d, and is geared with a cam 13c. The shifting of the rotor 12 further constrains the cam 13c and while keeping the stationary condition of the slider 5, draws it toward a chuck 4, and causes the motion of a slider 7 as forced by a compression spring 14 toward the chuck 4. When a pusher 19 has neared the chuck 4 due to the forward motion of the slider 7, a push rod 21 as actuated by the compression spring 20 pushes the end of the workpiece 25 held by a retaining device 16 on the workpiece retainer 15, and presses the workpiece 25 into the chuck of a spindle 2.
