PURPOSE:To detect the contamination of a dehulling ratio sensor with good accuracy, by providing a grain passage detection circuit to the dehulling ratio sensor and detecting the difference between unhulled rice voltage and unrefined rice voltage. CONSTITUTION:Unhulled rice is hulled by a hulling part 1 and light foreign matter is winnowed by a winnowing part 2 and sorting is performed in a sorting part 3 to take out refined rice from a take-out swallow 6. A dehulling ratio sensor 8 is provided to the hulling part 1 and a dehulling ratio is sensed to automatically regulate a roll gap. Unhulled rice voltage and unrefined rice voltage are detected by the dehulling ratio sensor 8 to calculate voltage difference. When the light receiving lens of the dehulling ratio sensor 8 is contaminated, the unhulled rice voltage is mainly raised and the difference with the unhulled rice voltage becomes small. Because said voltage difference is calculated by an operation apparatus, the abnormality of the dehulling ratio sensor can be simply detected.
