The invention is concerned with a pedal crank drive for bicycles or the like, in which the pedal crank length is extended during the downwards movement and is shortened during the upwards movement, in order, when cycling, to achieve an increase in the pedal power to be achieved and to achieve an easier sequence of movements. With the pedal crank drive according to the invention, it is intended to achieve a robust design and smooth control of the crank arm length. This is achieved by means of a bearing arrangement which is arranged eccentrically with respect to the pedal crank spindle, the fixed bearing part of which is arranged on the frame and on the rotatable bearing part of which there is rotatably mounted a control pin for the pedal crank, which control pin, when rotating, describes an eccentric circular path with respect to the pedal crank spindle.
