In the case of a process for producing a longitudinally sealed cable, in which, after stranding, the cable core is provided at intervals with a protective composition, sleeves sealing by the effect of pressure are used, the sleeves being actuated prior to filling in such a way that, due to being frictionally seated on the cable core, they automatically take a filling chamber with them during cable transport. After actuating the sleeves, a composition of low viscosity is forced under high pressure into the filling chamber from one or more sides.
