PURPOSE:To increase the number of pads without increasing a chip area by forming excess input/output buffer having no pads corresponding to the adjacent positions and connecting the pads of the corner of the chip with the excess input/output buffer. CONSTITUTION:In a gate array, the pitch of the array of input/output buffers 13, 13' is narrowed as compared with that of a pad row 16, excess input/output buffer 13 having no pad 16 corresponding to the adjacent positions of the input/ output buffer row is formed, a new pad 16' is formed at the corner of the chip 11, and connected by an input protective resistor 17 and aluminum wirings 18. According to this, the effective use of the chip area can be performed, and the number of the chips can be increased without increasing the chip area to improve the function of the gate array. |
