PURPOSE:To give flexibility to a system and to improve the operability of an input/output controlling device by making setting of sector length or shifting to each of plural disk devices. CONSTITUTION:Plural disk devices 2(0)-2(n) different in sector length are connected to an input/output controlling device 1 and sector length T0-Tn of each device 2(0)-2(n) are set beforehand to a sector length setting section 21. Sector signals (b) corresponding to sector length T0-Tn and selecting signals by an index signal (a) of one rotation are inputted to the selector circuit 11 of the device 1. An index signal a(i) of selected device 2(i) and a clock signal b(i) are added from the circuit 11 to a clock measuring circuit 13 and the circuit 13 is started by a start/stop signal 5. Counting time between signals a(i), b(i) measured by the circuit 13 is added to a clock value converting circuit 14. Sector length Ti of the device 2(i) is found by the circuit 14 and stored in number of a register 15 corresponding to the device 2(i) to give flexibility to the controlling device 1.
