PURPOSE:To provide hearth roll which corrects the meandering of a metallic strip by the effect of a thermal crown without generating the heat buckle of the strip by sealing a powder and granular material into the inside space of the hearth roll body. CONSTITUTION:The hearth roll 6 consists of the roll body 6a and the powder and granular material 7 sealed into the inside space thereof. The above- mentioned inside space is formed with circulation paths of a sectionally I-shaped space part 8 consisting of a central hole part 8a at the central part of the roll and large-diameter parts 8b, 8c communicating with both ends thereof and a spiral space part 9 communicating with the parts 8b, 8c near the outside circumference of the roll. The powder and granular material 7 such as Al2O3 is flowably sealed into these spaces. The material 7 is therefore agitated as a heat medium in the body 6a along the space part 9 and circulates therein when the roll 6 rotates. The temp. distribution in the axial direction of the roll 6 is thereby maintained approximately uniform and therefore the local deformation of the roll is suppressed and the meandering and heat buckle of the metallic strip are prevented. |
