A description is given of a heat insulation between a screed layer (2), designed on the underside with cavities, of a floor and a basic floor structure (1) serving as underlying surface for the screed layer. The cavities (4) are formed between feet (3) which are located on the underside of the screed layer and are distributed over the surface of the screed layer. At least one foil (6) is provided which is impermeable to air and, in the region of the cavities, forms an air cushion between itself and the basic floor structure. The foil is braced between the feet of the screed layer and the basic floor structure. In the region of the cavities, it is arched upwards and it possesses sufficient stability for it to be at least self-supporting. <IMAGE>
