PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive small-type printer having a trouble-displaying function, by a system wherein a display device and a switch are provided, and the switch is turned ON at the time of runaway of a controlling part for the printer to display the runaway condition on the display device. CONSTITUTION:A printer-controlling part 1 continues monitoring the conditions of the entire part of the printer constantly after a power source is turned ON, analyzes a command from a host device, controls a display part 3 and a printer mechanism part 4 under the control of a switch part 2, and performs printing or a line feeding action. In the case of generation of noise or malfunction of the printer mechanism part 4 after the power source is turned ON, a runaway or a state wherein normal processing is impossible may occur. In such a case, a switch in the switch part 2 is turned ON to supply a controlling signal 5 to the controlling part 1, thereby starting the part 1 and changing the part 1 from a normal state to a state wherein display is possible. In the state wherein display is possible, the condition of the printer or the controlling part is displayed in response to an input of a printer condition displaying command from the host device. The printer condition display is so arranged that a plurality of commands can be defined, so that detailed information of particular parts can be displayed. |
