CHARGING METHOD FOR LADLE INSULATING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To spray evenly an insulating material over the entire surface of a molten steel by putting the insulating material into a box-shaped jig provided with a grid in the base, carrying the jig over the molten steel and charging the insulating material over the entire surface of the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:A flexible freight container bag 7 of the insulating material is carried on a base plate 3, is combined with an upper frame 4 and is connected by a hoisting chain 5. A hook 2 of a crane is inserted into an eye 8 and the bag is hoisted and is carried over a ladle contg. the molten steel so as to be brought near to the molten steel surface. The bottom of the bag 7 is burned by the heat of the molten steel by which ruptured holes are made and the insulating material is dropped therethrough. The dropping rate of the insulating material is limited by the grid of the base plate 3 so that the falling takes time. The crane is moved longitudinally and transversely by utilizing such time until the insulating material is evenly sprayed on the molten steel surface. The operating efficiency is thus improved and the safety is assured.
