PURPOSE:To improve descaling capability and to reduce a fraction defective by operating the total quantity of ferric chloride in the total pickling tanks based on the ferric chloride concentration detected from the pickling liquid in every pickling tank and controlling an acid supply rate to a pickling tank to maintain the total quantity of ferric chloride to be constant. CONSTITUTION:Suction filters 4 in every pickling tank 3 are led to measuring instruments 7 of ferric chloride concentration through pipes 5 and pumps 6. The output of the instruments 7 is inputted into a computing element 10 through signal wires 9. The output of the computing element 10 is also inputted into a calculator 12 through a signal wire 11. The calculator 12 finds and outputs a necessary replenishing rate of chloric acid enough to maintain a ferric chloride concentration in pickling liquid to be a specified value. The above way improves the descaling capability, reduces the fraction defective, prevents over-dissolving, and reduces the basic unit of acid.
