METHOD FOR RECORDING HALFTONE

PURPOSE:To attain a halftone recording picture with much fidelity to original picture information by selecting the expression of density of noticed recording dots so that the difference of apparent density gradation of a noted area in a recorded picture and a converted density is minimized and deciding the level of an output picture signal in response to the expression. CONSTITUTION:For example, a prescribed converting density being an averaged density of all picture elements included in the noted region of picture information is obtained. Then an apparent density gradation of a noted area in the recording picture is obtained from a dot pattern comprising all recording dots and noticed recording dots included in the noted area of the recording picture with respect to each density expression possible for selecting the noticed recording dot and the density expression of the noticed recording dot is selected so that the difference between the said density and the converted density is minimized. Thus, the recording picture with halftone with much fidelity to the picture information is obtained as a whole.
