PURPOSE:To avoid an error of the read data even in case an artificial pulse is produced owing to the initial state of a hysteresis comparator, by making use of the rise or fall edge of the output waveform of the comparator and reproducing a record waveform. CONSTITUTION:A flip-flop 7 is inverted at the rise edge of the output waveform of a comparator 5 having the hysteresis. The data are recorded on a magnetic tape 1 by an NRZi system and include a track '0' whose magnetic field is inverted with data '0' and a track '1' whose magnetic field is inverted with data '1' respectively. This data is read by a magnetic head 2 for each track and amplified by an amplifier 3. The output of the amplifier 3 undergoes the full-wave rectification through a full-wave rectifier 6 and is differentiated by a differentiator 4 to be converted into a square wave shown by a comparator 5 having the hysteresis characteristics in a row C. The flip-flop 7 is inverted at the fall of the output waveform of the comparator 5 and can reproduce a record waveform.
