The invention relates to a method for forming a blocking plug at a predetermined plug point on a cable which contains perforated small plastic tubes which reduce the flow resistance, the cable being sealed on both sides of the plug point by radial strangulation, and elongated sealing elements being inserted into the separate perforated small plastic tubes, after which a fluid compound, which can cure (such as, in particular, casting resin) is filled into the region of the plug point. Reliable sealing, which can be handled easily, of the small plastic tubes is made possible by the fact that the sealing elements (11, 12) have a mechanically robust bending-resistant central core (13) which is provided with a radially elastically flexible soft sheath (14) whose diameter is at least equal to the internal diameter of the perforated small plastic tubes (10). <IMAGE>
