PURPOSE:To decrease correction errors by providing a correcting gate, and a correcting circuit for applying a correction pulse for correcting a defective signal charge, to this correcting gate. CONSTITUTION:The title device is provided with a correcting gate 15 which has been provided between a floating diffusion area 14 and a reset gate 16, and a correcting circuit 18 for applying a correcting pulse to said gate, and an output is executed by an outputting circuit 19 for converting a signal charge accumulated in the floating diffusion area 14, to an electric signal. A period for accumulating the signal charge under the final stage transfer electrode 12 extends from a fall t2 of a voltage Vp pulse applied to the final stage transfer electrode 12 to a rise t6 of a voltage Vp applied to the final stage transfer electrode 12. In this way, an exact correction can be executed easily by applying the correcting pulse which has been controlled by the correcting circuit, to the correcting gate which has been provided on at least one of the upper part of the floating diffusion area and the upper part of the adjacent part.
