PURPOSE:To improve a speed, an efficiency and an operability of a text input by transferring a top character sequence to a text memory means when length of a converted character string in an intermediate result memory means exceeds a predetermined value set optionally by an input means. CONSTITUTION:After an input information from a key input means 21 displays a kana (Japanese syllabary) on an input area display means 22, it converts into a code of KANJI (Chinese character) by a kana/KANJI converting means 23 and feeds to an intermediate result memory 24. Then, a length of the character sequence converted into the Chinese character is measured by a counting means 32, and a counted result of the character string is compared with an output of a setting means 31 by means of a comparison means 28. A setting means 32 comprises a memory, arregister and the like, and the contents thereof can be changed by a key input means 21. When the length of the Chinese character converted character in the intermediate result memory 24, a top word is transferred to a text memory 30 through a memory transfer means 29. Thereby, a speed and efficiency of the text input are improved and the number of characters in a provisional intermediate result can be freely set.
