PURPOSE:To easily set copy magnification and to facilitate copying operation by providing a decision means which decides whether an arithmetic result obtained by a magnification arithmetic means is within a specific range or not and a means which displays a warning when the arithmetic result is within the range. CONSTITUTION:A timer T is reset before entering a time-up state and input copy image length B is divided by original image length to calculate copy magnification X. Then, it is decided whether or not the calculated copy magnification is realized within the movement range of a lens and the variation range of the scanning speed of an optical system. Namely, it is decided whether or not the calculated copy magnification is larger than a specified minimum value and it is also decided whether or not the copy magnification X is larger than a maximum value. When the copy magnification X is larger than the maximum value, the maximum value is displayed as the copy magnification on a copy magnification display device 2 and an operator is warned that the calculation result is not within the specified ranges. Consequently, misses in copying are eliminated and a copy operation time is shortened, so that the operation efficiency of a copying machine is improved. |
