PURPOSE:To protect a rotary encoder completely from an inflow into an instrument by providing a seal body which spouts air for sealing and push the inflow back outside the coupling part between a rotary disk and the rotary encoder. CONSTITUTION:The seal body consisting of a narrow passage 17 which constitutes a labylinth seal and an air supply means 18 is provided outside the coupling 14 coupling the rotary disk 6 which comes into rolling contact with a body to be measured and the rotary encoder 11 which generates a measurement signal. Then, compressed air from an air piping source 26 passes through an air passage 24, the narrow passage 17, and a rotary disk chamber 28 and is discharged to the body 7 to be measured. Consequently, when external diameter working is carried out while the external diameter of, for example, a round rod is measured, a coolant, etc., are pushed back with the compress air even if entering the instrument, so the rotary encoder 11 is protected completely from the inflow into the instrument. |
